It’s long been said doctors don’t decide when you go home from the hospital, insurance companies do. Sometimes that same sentiment is true for post-op rehab stays. The question then becomes would you rather have the rehab therapy provided in your own home where no one else is around once the physical, speech or occupational therapists leave? Or, would you rather have it performed in the comfort of your own apartment at a continuing care retirement community like John Knox Village East.
If you choose to call John Knox Village East home, you could receive post-op rehab care in one of our in-patient suites if covered by insurance. If not, and your insurance chooses to send you straight home, you can return to your independent living apartment and have one of our skilled therapists help you navigate your rehab journey in the comfort of your own home. Once done with your rehab routine for the day, you’d still have the comfort of knowing you have a support network right here should a need arise.
You’d have the benefit of doing additional walking on smooth or paved surfaces where you can continue your exercise to get your strength back and complete your rehab progress. In the event, you have a setback or over-do it, you have access to other health professionals that can help you out and assess your condition. At John Knox Village East we have physical therapists, speech therapists and occupational therapists. We also have med techs, LPNS and RNs on site should you need someone to help you out. You also have access to meals and an onsite convenience store to meet your needs and get your supplies while you’re building your strength back up. We can also arrange for follow up doctor’s visits on your road to recovery.
