Find Your Best You Among Friends In An Active Retirement Community

As the New Year is upon us, it’s only natural that we tend to make resolutions on things we’d like to improve about ourselves or our lives. Many times, with older adults these resolutions tend to fall into a few common categories.

Some people want to “de-clutter” their lives and get rid of so much stuff. They just want the things that are important to them.  Sometimes, these important things are keepsakes or reminders of special people or special memories from years past.  Some people resolve to have more meaningful experiences as they age and quit tying happiness to things.  Yet, others vow to have greater peace of mind and quit worrying about so much stuff.  Some of the New Year’s Resolutions for older people are the same as young people – quit smoking, exercise more, get in better shape and be healthier.

With many of these New Year’s Resolutions, an active retirement community like John Knox Village East can help. When it comes to de-cluttering and downsizing your life, we can help by recommending moving companies and organizations that specialize in downsizing for seniors.  Our many different apartment options provide for the opportunity to keep those items that are important for you, while purging those things that are just taking up space.

John Knox Village East can also help you prioritize the experiences, rather than the things in your life. These experiences come from the lifestyle you will enjoy as a resident at John Knox Village East. Sometimes, these experiences take the form of the various trips and social outings we enjoy.  Some of the activities we enjoy are twice-monthly trips to restaurants such as Player’s in Warrensburg, The Summit Grille in Lee’s Summit, Jack Stack BBQ in Kansas City, as well as others.  Other endeavors that we routinely participate in are an on-site ice cream social, our coffee group, various card games and our crafting club.  We also take numerous “field trips” to places like Warm Springs near Boonville to see the Clydesdale horses, an Alpaca farm near Concordia and trips to the New Dinner Theatre to enjoy plays and musicals.  We also enjoy different activities on-site that you don’t even need to leave the building for.  Some of these are Happy Hour, Reminisce Club, Pet Day, Birthday lunches, as well as others.  As evidenced by these activities and many others, you’ll find an active retirement community that suits your lifestyle – you can be as involved or as independent as you like.

Peace of Mind is one of the greatest benefits of living at John Knox Village East. You don’t have to worry about replacing a broken appliance.  You don’t have to worry about shoveling the sidewalk when it snows.  You don’t have to worry about transportation should you elect not to drive.  You don’t have to worry about cooking with three nutritious meals available on site.  You don’t have to worry about an unexpected health crisis occurring with nurses on-site.  And, you don’t have to worry about where your long term care will come from if you need it.  With 5-Star Rated Meyer Care Center as part of our campus, you’ll know that you’re receiving the highest quality care.

For those more conventional New Year’s Resolution, we can help with those too. With a fitness center on-site, regular exercise classes and health and wellness classes available, we can help you achieve your fitness and health goals as well.  Many of our residents achieve their daily exercise goal by walking several miles indoors, out of the weather where they don’t have to worry about slipping on the ice.

If you’d like to find out about how some of our residents have downsized, de-stressed or holistically improved their lives, give us a call at 660-584-4416 or fill out the form on our website. We’d be happy to answer your questions or put you in touch with someone who lives here and can give you the inside scoop on living at John Knox Village East.
